Police, who said the Postal Service is handling the investigation, do not know at this time if any mail was stolen.
Residents and businesses who may have used the box at this location should follow-up with the recipients of their mail to confirm that it has been delivered.
Further steps should be taken to protect any sensitive information contained in out-going mail and monitor banks accounts, officials said.
